The theme for IWD in '99
Awake (in English )
Utilize & Extend Women's Rights(in Japanese)

*The organizing members discussed a lot about theme for IWD.
For example,
-lLt's translate 'Awake' into Japanese.
-But 'Awake' in Japanese sounds like teachers' words.
- I prefer soft, imaginal words to formal ones. Maybe young people like them, too. How about 'This is my way.'
−We should make an appeal straightly in simple, clear words, so the theme last year was good.
- I think 'Rights' for Japanese means differently things to Western people-.For Japanese “Rights”doesn't mean 'Personal Rights'. So it isn't an appropriate word!
After a long discussion, we adopted almost the same theme as one last year, because we ran out of time.

Schedule for
a Extra Meeting on Feminists working together crosscultually
The date & time : from 20:00- Saturday, January 9th,'99
The place : Kait's place(If you want to join, please mail to Akane)
While discussing this year's theme, the subject developed into what we think about and how we analyze the social situation now. Finally we decided to discuss it another day.
As soon as the meeting place is fixed, we'll tell you. Come on join us!!
